Apparently, the answer is “heck yes!”

British musician John Parr, who had a #1 hit with “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion)” in 1985, wrote new lyrics for his song focusing on the Denver Broncos quarterback.

In a related story, the estate of Johnny Cash denies that “A Boy Named Suh” is being recorded to honor the Detroit Lions’ much-fined defensive tackle. (Okay, I’m kidding on this one.)

The Hobbit movie is leaked to the Internet

Take a deep breath. The Peter Jackson-helmed version of The Hobbit is still in production, safely tucked away on some sound stage in New Zealand. This is something completely different.

In 1966, animator Gene Deitch collaborated with Czech illustrator Adolf Born to create the very first film version of The Hobbit. This version — which took some sizable creative liberties with J.R.R. Tolkien’s original story — never saw the light of day. What the heck happened?

Scripture is chock-full of promises for those who follow Jesus Christ. But, much to my dismay, delivering a Snuggie existence isn’t something God guarantees.

When the Lord does promise to give comfort, he does so with a rod and a staff while you’re hiking through the valley of the shadow of death.

Not gonna lie, I’m sort of uncomfortable with that.

But, by the grace of God, I’m learning. Though hardships come unplanned and unannounced, he reveals his love and protection and provision. Best of all, he reveals himself. And he has given his Holy Spirit, the comforter.

I’m comforted by that. How about you?

According to an informal poll conducted by MSNBC, the most popular of the six actors to play 007 is Sean Connery.

The only thing that’s surprising about this result is that they actually had to do research at all. Clearly, the Scottish version of the world’s most famous spy is head and shoulders over the other pretenders. The preference ranking for the Bond boys, in order of preference, is as follows:

Recently, my wife and I were talking about who we might invite over to share a meal. Got to be honest, Jesus’ party planning instructions did not come to mind:

“When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne.
