Weird, wild, wonderful … the Word of God.

Bible, Faith

The Word
“The Bible is strangely askew. Straightforward things convolute, suddenly appearing to double back in contradiction. Proverbs, for instance: that’s like a sock drawer of mismatched ideas — riches are good, or maybe bad; fools should be rebuked; no, fools should be avoided — and when you throw it side-by-side with Ecclesiastes, and mix in the Song of Songs, it’s easy to get lost in the woods. Elsewhere, the Bible serves up a bland collection of tedious laws and plodding chronicles, then spices it up with a hot sauce of lurid tales, swashbuckling escapades, erotic trysts. The whole thing is by turns audacious then euphemistic, lucid then oblique, poetic then didactic.”Mark Buchanan, Hidden In Plain Sight: The Secret of More

Do you think the Bible is weird? Wild? Wonderful. How would you describe the scriptures?

Thanks Dave for having a few words with us. Bible is something where you will get your every answer so I consider it as a holy book. I don’t know what others might say. I love God and I love going to church.
